Armored is a straight up robbery flick.......At least till things go wrong. It is a bit predictable, but still has some unexpected twists and is star studded with a cast that works very well.
Matt Dillion (Nothing But The Truth, You, Me and Dupree) plays the part of Mike Cochrone, a guard for an armored truck service who comes up with an idea of stealing a large haul. He brings in his buddies who are also guards. These include: Quin [played by Jean Reno (Fly Boys, The Da Vinci Code)]; Baines [played by Laurence Fishburne (CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (TV), Akeelah and the Bee)]; Palmer [played by Amaury Nolasco (Max Payne, Transformers); Dobbs [played by Skeet Ulrich (For Sale By Owner, Jericho (TV))]; and Ty Hackett [played by Columbus Short (Whiteout *see my review here*, Cadillac Records) as an Iraq War Veteran who has hit hard times.
Other actors include Fred Ward (The Wild Stallion, L'affaire Farewell) as Duncan Ashcroft, the guards supervisor; Andre Kinney (Spoken Word, Hannah Montana [TV]) as Ty's brother Jimmy and Milo Ventimiglia (Gamer *see my review here*, Heroes [TV]) as police officer Ekhart.
The acting is superb and the scenes very well done. Although the movie is somewhat predictable, it is enjoyable through the minor twists and the depth of character shown by the actors. A very believable story line makes this film a very good work that I would recommend.
I give it three and three quarters stars out five.
